Barrie Ontario Residents--Make a Child's Christmas

Buy a penguin and make a Big difference

(STAFF) --The Barrie Examiner's Parade of Penguins campaign sees the newspaper and its sponsors place a plush penguin in the hands of every child in the Big Brothers/Sisters program this Christmas.

More than 150 children in all will receive a penguin along with a little tag that specifies the sponsor who made the donation possible.

In exchange for the $79 sponsorship cost, each participating business will receive a penguin-shaped ad in the Dec. 17 issue and a penguin delivered on their behalf.

In addition, the Examiner has pledged to further donate $15 to their choice of either Big Brother/Sisters or Gilda's Club Barrie in support of their capital campaigns.

"We're pleased to be helping those less fortunate young people in the area, especially during this time of year, and also pleased our sponsors are joining in to help us," said Examiner publisher, Don MacLeod .

"There are so many worthwhile causes out there to support. This is a unique way for the Examiner and its advertisers to make this holiday season a bit more enjoyable for area youth," said Denise Tucker, Osprey regional advertising director.
