Protests Axe Penguin Show #2 in Hemel Hempstead

A LIVE penguin show in a shopping centre was axed last night after protests.

Wildlife campaigners - including comedian Bill Bailey - called for today's display in front of thousands of customers to be scrapped.
Organisers decided to drop the event over "safety" worries.

The show at the Riverside Shopping Centre in Hemel Hempstead, Herts, is the SECOND to be cancelled after The Sun highlighted welfare concerns. Shoppers were invited to see the "hilarious" penguins slipping, sliding and waddling outside an HMV music store for six hours.
Stand-up comic Bill, 46, tweeted: "Stop this madness."
Wildlife photographer Darren Hector, who launched an internet campaign to stop the show, said: "Penguins have no place in a hot, busy centre. They are easily stressed."
The centre said it axed the show as there was a risk of a demonstration by protesters and it wanted to ensure safety.
London toy store Hamleys cancelled a similar show after a Sun story last week.
