Meet Chickory.
He's the newest addition at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas.
Chickory, an endangered African blackfooted penguin, was hatched on April 23 in New Orleans.
On Thursday, Chickory will be introduced at the Audubon Aquarium. The chick has been nesting with first-time parents Millicent and Puddles.
African penguins are warm weather penguins and classified as endangered. They are indigenous between Namibia and Algoa Bay. Their diets consist mainly of fish, according to the aquarium, such as pilchards, sardines, anchovies and crustaceans. The Audubon Institute states that the most notable aspect of African penguin behavior is the loud donkey-like braying noise emitted during the ecstatic display.
