YOUNGSTERS can pick up a penguin film this week in the latest in a superb series of educational Disney Magical World of Animals DVDs.

Children can find out all about the birds that cannot fly but can swim like a fish.

The Mail is offering children in Hull and the East Riding the chance to collect 26 DVDs, accompanied by a fun-packed booklet, each focusing on a different creature in the animal kingdom.

The unique Disney Magical World of Animals DVDs can be collected every Tuesday and are available from stores with tokens from the Mail at a cost of just £2.95.

The collection of 26 films features all kinds of creatures, showcasing the fascinating and varied animal kingdom.

If they are inspired by watching the latest DVD on penguins, children can head off to Sewerby Hall and Gardens, near Bridlington and see Humboldt penguins in the flesh.

These animals are found on the west coast of South America from Chile to Peru and live on rocky mainland shores near cliffs and offshore islands.

Adults feed close to the shore on anchovies and squid and nest in caves .

Humboldt Penguins are now widely regarded as the most endangered of all the penguin species.

The total population of the Humboldt Penguin in the early 1980s was estimated at 20,000.

They may now number around only 10,000 today.

John Pickering, head zookeeper at

Sewerby Hall, believes the latest DVD will help youngsters understand the plight of penguins.

He said: "I think the penguin DVD and magazine are a great way for children to learn about penguins.

"The mix of real footage of penguins and cartoons makes learning fun and enjoyable and the quizzes get the children involved."

The Disney Magical World of Animals DVD featuring penguins is available from all participating outlets throughout the week and can be redeemed with a voucher in the Mail for just £2.95.
