The 60-minute program is limited to six participants per session and includes an educational briefing from one of the park’s aviculturists, or penguin keepers. Participants then put on parkas, gloves and boots and enter the penguins’ home, which is kept at a constant 35 degrees. The guests then participate in a penguin feeding and get a chance to meet and touch the penguins. Each guest also receives a complimentary photo.
The cost of the program is $75 per person plus tax, in addition to park admission. Participants must be 8 years or older and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Part of the fees for the program go to support the Sea World and Busch Gardens Conservation Fund. Sea World also has similar programs for its beluga whales and sea lion exhibits.
SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group (NYSE: BX), operates 10 parks across the U.S., including SeaWorld parks in Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio.
