Penguins Know How to Move Like Cars in Traffic

Look how coordinated they are!

Penguins are the ultimate team players, because as it turns out, when they waddle in a huddle they move just like cars. Basically, when one of them takes a step, that triggers a coordinated wave throughout the whole group — and it’s very similar to how cars inch forward in a traffic jam, New Scientist explains.

The above video explains how this works — and also features some very dramatic music. So grab your headphones and prepare for the most riveting penguin-related viewing experience since March of the Penguins.
