Riverbanks Zoo announced the addition of a new baby Gentoo Penguin, Thursday.
The Zoo is now home to nine of the penguins after the birth of the new male penguin earlier this summer. Officials say the penguin and his parents will not be on exhibit until a few more weeks when his adult feathers grow in. "When penguins are born they're born with down feathers which is that really fuzzy feather...he will not get his full adult plumage until he's about three months old and he's 60 days right now so he's got a little while to go," says Sarah Guaracini with Zoo. Gentoo penguins are the fastest swimming penguins in the world.
