Penguins Tracked by Microchips (VIDEO)
Scientists in Argentina have found a novel way to monitor a penguin colony. They implant microchips in the animals' feet, that coupled with receiving pads placed across the penguins' route to the sea, allow scientists to tell when each individual animal goes out for food, and for how long they're gone. And by putting scales under the pads, they can also weigh the animals and estimate how much they eat or how much they bring back to feed to their little ones.

This colony has seen a 22 percent drop over the last twenty years. Is this due to oil spills, overfishing, or climate change? The information from the microchips will provide information that may help provide some answers.
