Penguin dies in zoo kidnap bid

The Humbodt penguin, valued at over £1,000.
Fowl play ... the Humboldt penguin was valued at over £1,000.

A SHOCKED penguin is believed to have died of a heart attack when thieves tried to kidnap it from its zoo enclosure.

The ill-fated fowl was found dead by keepers at Cuxhaven Zoo in Germany.
The heavy steel door to its living quarters had been smashed open.
Cops believe burglars broke in between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning to nick the Humboldt penguin, valued at more than £1,000.
But a police spokesman said it may also have been “a prank that went badly wrong."
