The Brookfield Zoo in Chicago has a new star. Pepe, a 5-month old Humboldt penguin, is now receiving visitors.
Zoo officials have designated him an "ambassador animal" that represents his species to visitors.
On days when the zoo isn't too crowded, zoologists said they may bring Pepe out to meet the public.
The staff hopes to make a connection with the public that will
inspire guests to want to learn more about Pepe's endangered
counterparts in the wild.
