Adopt your own penguin 
 
1. How do I adopt a penguin?
To adopt a Blue Penguin from the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony please email us at the contact address below and we will send you an application form to complete and email back to us.

2. How much does it cost to adopt a penguin?
We currently have four prices and choices for penguin adoptions. This price is New Zealand dollars. Ranging from $40.00 to $100 depending on which option you choose.

3. How do I pay?
You may pay by cheque, direct credit or by credit card. If you wish to pay by cheque we require the cheque to be in New Zealand Dollars. For international purchases, this means that you will need to get a New Zealand Dollar draft from your bank.

4. How long will it take to process my adoption?
Once your application and payment is received it takes a minimum of 5-10 working days to process, excluding postage time. Adoptions are processed in the order they are received.

5.  What will I receive in my adoption pack?
All adoption packs include a thank you letter,
photo and information of your adopted penguin,
map of the colony showing the nesting area,
an adoption certificate,
plus your choice of the following:

$75 adoption pack - choose from
•Set of Balancing penguins
•Penguin Lunch Bag
•Back pack and T shirt
•Monther and Baby Penguin
•Tea Towel and Apron


$100 adoption pack
•3 Penguins of NZ Soft Toys or a life size blue penguin soft toy.
•Gloves, Hat and Scarf Set
•3 Penguins of NZ Xmas Ornaments
•OBPC Microfibre Bag and book "Penguins of NZ"
•T shirt, Back Pack and Cap
6. Can I give an adoption as a gift?
Yes certainly – please see this option on our application form

7. Will I be able to see my adopted penguin if I visit?
Because our penguins are in their natural environment we are unable to disturb these wonderful birds to view individuals – however you will be able to view the breeding area where your bird nests

8. Do I get to keep the penguin I adopt?
Our birds are in their natural environment with a successful conservation programme so they are to remain in the colony to come and go naturally

9. What does my payment go towards?
Our on going conservation program

10. I don’t live in New Zealand can I still adopt a penguin there?
You are more than welcome to adopt a penguin in Oamaru, New Zealand no matter where you live in the world. We will even cover the postage!
