Santa will meet the beloved penguins of the Aquarium of the Americas on December 21 and December 22. His New Orleans visits coincide with the birds’ regular meal times (10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.). Saint Nick will hand feed 32 tuxedo-clad charmers while visitors view the spectacle through the towering glass windows of the Penguin Exhibit.

The penguins keep making news in New Orleans, where they have long ranked among the most popular attractions at the Aquarium. Their charms seduced my colleague, Sheila Stroup, who wrote about them this past June. I weighed in with a report about the Aquarium’s new backstage penguin tours in September.

Tickets to Audubon Aquarium of the Americas during regular hours are $21.00 for adults, $14.00 for children and $17.00 for seniors. Admission is always free for Audubon Nature Institute members. Advanced tickets are recommended and can be purchased by visiting AudubonInstitute.org or at any Audubon Nature Institute attractions. Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is located at 1 Canal Street.
