GALVESTON, Texas -- Have you ever seen a penguin up-close and in-person? If not, you can have a “Penguin Encounter” at Moody Gardens.
The Aquarium Pyramid has almost 100 penguins in residence. They are very social and curious creatures who don’t mind human interaction.
The Aquarium provides a 45-minute session in an “encounter room” for $50. Children three years old and younger get in free.
Participants get a 15-minute crash course in penguins followed by 30 minutes of interaction with the beautiful birds.
The same experience costs $350 for a private group. For $250 the Aquarium Pyramid provides a “keeper” experience in which participants work a four hour shift behind the scenes, venturing into the actual exhibit, assisting with cleaning and feeding of the birds.
