Mystic
Aquarium's two newest chicks, designated Purple Red and Purple Gray,
hatched in February, took their first swim Thursday in the Roger Tory
Peterson Penguin Pavilion. Once the aquarium's adult penguins were
removed from the exhibit the two chicks were introduced by penguin
trainers Tracy Camp and Josh Davis. Neither chick entered the water on
their own, but had to be placed there by a trainer. According to an
aquarium press release, the chicks float very well but must learn how to
dive and navigate using their wings and feet.
