Tampa -
Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo announced the successful hatching of a spring chick – an African penguin.
The newest African penguin chick, hatched May 8, and is the third successful hatchling for parents "Thumbelina" and "Flannigan" who have been paired for several years.
As with the previous chicks, the newest offspring transitioned to zookeeper care to ease independence and learn to swim.
Then it will join the colony on exhibit in several months.
