Syracuse, N.Y. — The Rosemond Gifford Zoo introduces another penguin chick to the public. They are not sure of the gender but the zoo is asking the community to help name the chick. A contest will be announced at a later date.

There have been 6 penguin chicks born since December 5, 2015. The first three were named by the zookeepers. Estrella, female, was born December 5, 2015. Her name means "star" in Spanish. Luis, male, was born February 20, 2016, He name means "famous warrior" in Spanish. Elmer, male, was born February 21, 2016. Elmer's egg, which suffered a crack early on, was successfully hatched after Zoo Director Ted Fox applied Elmer's Glue to repair the fissure.
