The Scarborough Sea Life Sanctuary is set to make a splash this Easter with the launch of its brand new walkthrough feature, Penguin Island on Saturday March 28.

The popular underwater-themed family attraction will be giving visitors the opportunity to waddle alongside its cute colony of Humboldt penguins in their brand new island home.
As part of the general admission fee, guests can get closer than ever before to the Peruvian and Chilean natives as they follow the guided path through the enclosure.
Offering a real insight into the quirky lives and habits of the Humboldt species, Penguin Island will be an entertaining and educational experience for all ages.
Richard Dilly, general manager at Scarborough, said: “Penguin Island promises to be an excellent addition to our magical underwater world and it will give both children and adults alike the chance to dive into the world of Humboldt penguins.
“People will be able to come face-to-face with these endearing birds and watch as they splash and swim in their pool and waterfall.
“Each penguin has its very own personality and story, from Krusty the cheeky penguin, to Gonzo who’s scared of the rain, to George who we named before finding out he was a she.
“They are such sociable birds with huge hearts, so it will be great for visitors to get up close and experience this for themselves.”
The Penguin Island Humboldt colony is made up of an assortment of cheeky characters including two adorable chicks that have been hand-reared by dedicated aquarists at the attraction.
