PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C.--Looking for a way to stay cool Wednesday while you wait for the fireworks?  Everyone is encouraged to come spend the day and cool off at the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

The aquarium will have normal business hours frm 9am - 5pm.  Families can catch the aquarium's new "Penguin Plunge" exhibit all day long.  Kids will love watching the penguins waddling and swimming around their habitat.  Guests are welcomed to the new exhibit with a sixteen ton sand sculpture saluting penguins.

Penguins aren't the only birds that families will get to see during their visit to the aquarium.  An additional fee of $4 will admit guests to the special program, "Winging It - Birds in flight."  Guests will get to see native shorebirds and other birds up close and personal in the aquarium's Big Rock Theater.

There's even a program for pre-schoolers in the aquarium's "Aquarium ABC's."  The hour-long program will feature lots of liev animal encounters, stories, crafts and more.  Advance registration is required for the "Aquarium ABC's" and the behind-the-scenes tours, along with regular admission to the aquarium.

More information on these programs and more at the aquarium is available online at http://www.ncaquariums.com/pine-knoll-shores, and by phone at  252-247-4003 .  Admission to the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is $8 for guests ages 13 - 61, $7 for senior citizens age 62 and older, $6 for children ages 3 - 12, and free for children 2 and under and North Carolina Aquarium Society members.
