NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) - A major redevelopment is happening at the Aquarium of Niagara but they need the help of the community.

Currently, the aquatic tanks are being refurbished and moved to make room for a new Penguin exhibit. The tuxedoed friends will move from a 300-square feet facility to a 1,000-square feet exhibit built within the existing walls of the aquarium.

This is the first phase of the project costing about $3 million. The money is coming from the City of Niagara Falls and private donors. They are looking to the community to also donate funds.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by summer 2016. The entire project is going cost $15 million over six years.
