ASTANA, December 12. /TASS/. A biologist from Kazakhstan’s capital Astana has decided to breed penguins on the Kazakh coast of the Caspian Sea.
Guided by an example of farmers who have successfully realised the idea in New Zealand, Ratmir Buyashev reached a deal with them on delivery of a first batch of king penguins. To make the dream a reality, he just needs investors as one bird costs $5,000.

“I’ve struck a deal with the owner of a farm in New Zealand to buy there about twenty king penguins,” the republican daily Express-K quotes Buyashev as saying. “It will be enough to begin breeding birds in the Kazakh part of the Caspian Sea.”

Buyashev believes that the idea to settle penguins in the conditions of Kazakh climate does not look so crazy since crowds of travellers rush each year to the Antarctic for watching these birds in their natural habitat. And so people will be willing to visit Kazakhstan to see these wonderful animals.
While staying at the penguin farm in New Zealand, Buyashev studied the climate conditions and food, favourable for the penguins.

“We have enough food for penguins here,” he said.

The biologist fears only for excessive curiosity of the penguins and their popularity with children.
In Kazakhstan local wealthy people may snap up the penguins for their kids. To avoid it, the researcher plans to keep the penguins under guard somewhere at a resort on the Kazakh shore of the Caspian.
