Birmingham is experiencing a chilly Antarctic blast – but it’s got nothing to do with the weather.
For The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham has just opened its latest attraction, Penguin Ice Adventure, with a colony of Gentoo Penguins.

The Brindleyplace Centre has installed viewing platforms for visitors to watch the birds as they dive beneath the freezing waters in their new 70,000 litre pool.

Gentoo penguins are classified as near-threatened and the Birmingham birds have been bred by the Melbourne Sea Life Centre as part of a programme to protect endangered species.

The new feature is a £2.5 million investment for the centre which has seen a record number of visitors since it opened in 1995.
